Gather & Ground: Your invite to a morning to pause before Autumn
There is something quietly beautiful about the first week of September.
Summer hasn't quite disappeared. The light still lingers a little longer in the evenings, the gardens are still full of colour, and warm days can still arrive unexpectedly, yet the rhythm of life begins to change. School bags return to hallways, diaries start to fill again and, almost without noticing, we find ourselves moving a little faster.
It is often at this point that we promise ourselves a fresh start. We'll eat better, we'll make more time for ourselves, we'll get back into healthier routines - sound familiar?
But perhaps what we really need isn't another reset, perhaps we just need a moment to pause.
That is the thinking behind Gather & Ground, our latest event from The Neighbourhood Club by Poulet Bonne Femme, taking place on Sunday 6th September in the beautiful gardens of Avoca Kilmacanogue.
A Different Kind of Sunday Morning
Nestled beneath a sheltered stretch tent and surrounded by some of Ireland's oldest trees, Gather & Ground has been created as a gentle invitation to slow down before autumn's pace truly begins.
It’s not about fitness expectations; there’s no pressure to perform, and no complicated wellness agenda - just a morning spent moving, breathing, sharing good food and enjoying the company of others.
We'll begin with a gentle yoga and breathwork session led by renowned local yoga teacher Jan Duffy, a class that is suitable for every level, whether you're an experienced yogi or stepping onto a mat for the very first time. Jan has more than 20 years of experience supporting bodies from all walks of life with yoga-based movement, breathwork, and Somatic Experiencing therapy. Deeply passionate about nervous system regulation, embodied movement, and somatic healing, Jan creates grounded, welcoming spaces to slow down, release tension, and reconnect with their natural strength and ease, and we are delighted to have her inimitable warmth and wisdom as the foundation for Gather & Ground.
As the morning unfolds, after class, we'll gather around the tables to enjoy a relaxed seasonal brunch, where Poulet Bonne Femme's free-range rotisserie chicken will be served alongside a delicious selection of Avoca's much-loved salads and seasonal dishes. Every guest will also receive a complimentary free-range rotisserie chicken to take home, making the feel-good feeling last a bit longer into your Sunday!
Why September?
While many people associate wellbeing with January, we think September is an equally meaningful time to reconnect with ourselves. The changing season naturally encourages us to return to routines that help us feel our best. A walk outdoors.A meal shared with friends with fresh, nourishing food. A little more movement. A little less rushing.
Gather & Ground isn't about changing your life overnight. It's about carrying the best parts of summer into the season ahead.
The Joy of Gathering
At Poulet Bonne Femme, we've always believed that food is about much more than what's on the plate, it's about creating moments. It’s about the conversations that happen around the table with the friend you haven't seen for months, or the family dinner that comes together with very little effort, but lots of chat and craic. It’s the picnic shared on a sunny afternoon and the Sunday lunch that reminds everyone to connect and slow down.
Through The Neighbourhood Club, we're creating opportunities for exactly those kinds of moments. Gather & Ground is another chapter in that story, where we partner with Avoca this time around to bring together movement, nourishing food, nature and community in one of Ireland's most beautiful settings - their garden at Kilmacanogue.
